We Refinish All Metal Surfaces

Check out a recent San Francisco bronze refinishing project

Bronze is a popular choice for door handles and railings in commercial buildings. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, it’s naturally resistant to the elements, common wear, and oils. Although it requires very little maintenance, it can become dull, worn, and lifeless over time.

Baker’s Floor and Metal recently completed a metal refinishing job at a large building in San Francisco. The project was located in a historic building that was later converted to a modern, creative office space. Six of the building’s hand rails had been worn down and were in need of repair. Before we began the project, we worked with the building manager to determine the preferred handle color. We started the project by stripping the existing finish and using a specialized abrasive technology to remove scratches. Then, we feather grained the metal to match the existing adjacent areas. Next, we cleaned the area using specially chosen bronze cleaners and oxidized the metal to match our pre-determined sample. The area was then rinsed and we applied three coats of clear metal protective lacquer. When the project was complete, we left the work area free of all debris that accumulated during the refinishing process. This project was finished in a timely manner and only required four man hours to complete.

Many of our commercial clients have bronze metal railings, door knobs, and guard railings in their commercial spaces. It’s easy to clean and only requires mild soap and water to keep it looking new for a long time. When it comes to metal, prevention is key. Taking care of metal surfaces and having them regularly maintained is critical. When you get to a point where your metals are in need of restoration, our proven restoration and refinishing methods will transform your metal finishes and restore antique metal to its original form.
