Urethane topcoats are popular options for sealing epoxy floors. They’re often used in large commercial spaces, retail spaces, office buildings, garages, airline hangers, and over any decorative flooring system. When you apply a urethane topcoat to epoxy flooring, you’ll experience both instant and long-term benefits.

Baker’s Floor and Metal recently completed a urethane topcoat job at a large office building in the heart of San Francisco. For this 3,200 square foot job, we taped out the job area, tested concrete density to determine the proper media, and prepped the surface area. Then, we applied a urethane topcoat to the epoxy flooring. Finally, we applied a wax and polish.

There are many benefits to adding a urethane topcoat to your floor. Urethane topcoats are:

  • Scratch resistant and abrasion resistant
  • Chemical resistant, including acid and corrosives spills
  • UV stable, will not turn yellow when exposed to direct sunlight
  • Perfect for indoor and outdoor applications
  • Available in clear and custom tinted solid colors
  • Available in matte or high gloss finishes
  • Aesthetically appealing
  • Heat resistant
  • Slip resistant

When you apply a urethane topcoat to epoxy, you add an additional protective layer that will increase the longevity of your floor. This coating will also help protect the floor’s color, make it easier to clean, and help hide scratches.

Businesses throughout the San Francisco Bay Area turn to Baker’s Floor and Surface for their epoxy flooring and urethane topcoat projects.
