Water Damage on your Wood Floors?

Check out how Baker’s restored this neighborhood school’s wood floors

Wood floors are beautiful additions to commercial building spaces. They provide a natural warmth that tile or concrete floors cannot match. But, wood floors also require special treatment to keep them looking beautiful. Natural wood floors are also susceptible to damage, especially water damage.

Baker’s Floor and Metal recently refinished and repaired 5600 square feet of damaged wood floors at a school in Redwood City. The floors had significant water damage and were in disrepair. Before starting the project, our experienced flooring technicians visited the property and inspected the damage to determine the best course of action.

On the first day of the project, we sanded the damaged area, removing only the failed damaged wood sections. We also replaced the wood that was not salvageable. Next, we removed scratches and filled defects in the wood with color matching wood epoxies or colored lacquer. Then, we lightly sanded the surface again to ensure uniformity and cleaned the area with denatured alcohol. The wood was then stained to the customer’s specification. Additionally, trace amounts of color matching pigment was added to the lacquer and applied to the surface with a high volume low pressure spray unit. Finally, we applied two coats of clear lacquer.

Wood flooring and surface projects can be delicate, requiring specialized expertise and care. Baker’s Floor and Metal understands the intricacies of wood repair and finish. When our wood flooring experts visit the project site, they evaluate the damage and thoroughly discuss the project requirements with our customers.
